About Our Classes
Blocks, straps, bolsters and blankets are provided for use at Prairie Lotus Yoga. Students should purchase their own mat. It is more hygienic and good for home practice. We have mats available for sale at the studio.
- Mixed Level Classes
60 minutes long. Classes consist of warm up and centering exercises, more strenuous poses, and cool-down and relaxation. The instructors assist you in modifying the poses to a level suitable for each student
- Restorative Classes
Restorative Classes consist of poses done with props (bolsters, blankets, etc.) to allow for deep relaxation and a gradual increase of flexibility. Restorative classes will sometimes include an extended guided relaxation called yoga nidra included in the session
- Hot Yoga
Sequence of poses practiced in a heated room to safely promote deep release of bodily tension. With routine practice, this system regulates internal organs, improves balance, and builds strength and flexibility. Great for increasing metabolism for weight loss too! Level 1 & 2
- Yoga in Chairs
Not just for older students, but a gentle yoga done in or with a chair, for those we are new to yoga, or "office bound" and wish to have a half hour of mid-day rejuvenation, without changing clothes. Leave class feeling strong in the body, and calm in the mind.
- Whole Birth ®
These prenatal classes bring together elements of a traditional yoga class; stretching, strengthening, balancing, meditation and deep relaxation, with information and supportive group discussions. Yoga is an excellent way to prepare for birth. Since we can't think our way through labor, prenatal yoga is a perfect way to drop beneath the thinking mind and into the 'body-mind' - the innate cellular intelligence that brings our babies into the world. Through the practice of yoga we learn to listen deeply to and trust in our body's birthing wisdom.
How do I prepare for class?
Don’t eat a heavy meal before class. Dress in clothes that allow easy movement. Avoid baggy clothes, so teachers can see your alignment in the poses. We do yoga barefoot. Come a few minutes early to your first class and introduce yourself to the teacher as a new student. They will give you a medical release form and show you where the props are located and help you set up your mat. We have a restroom for clothes changes.
Are classes ever cancelled?
Prairie Lotus reserves the right to cancel classes if weather or other conditions dictate. In case of bad weather, call the Prairie Lotus phone line and a message about class closing will be recorded. We will also post the closing at www.ebclink.com
Refund Policy
Refunds are granted for medical emergencies, or if requested within the first two classes of the session. A $10 administration fee applies.
